What are the economics of CNG?
We understand budgets for school districts can be tight— it’s critical every dollar is at work and working towards improving the district. CNG is substantially less expensive than other fuel sources and on average, CNG can cost ~50-70% less than the cost of gasoline, diesel, and propane.
School buses equipped with the technology to transport tomorrow’s students with CNG are ready to go. The technology is available and already being used in all light-weight vehicles to heavy equipment.
When rotating your bus fleet, request the new buses be equipped to take CNG. Alternatively, you can add the conversion kit to your existing fleet.
Due to its clean burning nature, CNG will help keep your engine clean and operating more efficiently. When CNG combusts, it doesn’t leave behind carbon particles like gasoline or diesel does. This in return, leaves your engine clean, saving you time and money on routine maintenance like oil changes, spark plugs, as well as extending the life of your engine.
Alternative Fuel Comparison Table
Alternative fuels have different energy densities and are measured using different units. Use the table below on the left to input current rates in your area and receive an equal unit comparison to one gallon of gasoline on the right.
Gasoline | $ |
Diesel | $ |
Electric | $ |
Propane | $ |
Natural Gas | $ |
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) 2019 year-end report, it was estimated that there is a total of 494.9 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) proven natural gas reserves in the US.
